A whole new story & a voice to capture us all

I was not sure I'd like this book, to be honest. I'm not a big fan of mobster type stories. But from the first moment I began to listen, I was enthralled. The action started and just never stopped. Before I knew it I was halfway through it and still listening at every single chance I got. This is a whole new series to jump in on from the ground up. It's incredibly good and well worth the low cost to get it. Nicholas Sansbury Smith continues to wow us with his spectacular ability to weave his world all around us. And when you pair Nick up with Ray Porter, the reading of this incredible book of this is just astounding.

Smith brings another winner!

I don't think there is a style that Smith can not write. I'll admit I would have never read a Mafia book. Not because I dislike them but because I just didn't have an interest in it. However I do love TEOTWAWKI books and I enjoy Smith's books. The story is well researched and has sparked an interest in Mafia books. The war aspect of this book is scary real. Until recent events I felt this kind of war was imminent. This is the first time I have listened to this narrator and I enjoyed how he brought these characters to life. If you like war books, Mafia stories or any type of TEOTWAWKI book, this is for you.

Ray Porter really brings a story to life!

Good book, Ray Porter is a really great narrator, he's not like so many "news broadcaster" types that basically put you to sleep, good voices for news, not good for delivering a believable story line and individual easily distinguished characters, Ray Porter does this wonderfully, he's mastered female voices that don't sound idiotic as well as many different accents my only complaint is he doesn't narrate more books!

Well done!!! Great story and narration.

Just finished the Audible book Sons of War. I’m so thankful to you for creating such a great story with a talented narrator. The intricate story of evil and good is placed in a setting that is very plausible. You’ve intertwined moral questions in the middle. You had me rooting for a bad guy, being reminded that he is a killer, and then wondering if this guy is truly good or bad. Well done!

Post Apocalyptic, Near Future, NO Zombies Perfect

A unique and fresh take on the post apocalyptic. At first I was skeptical... but the multiple storylines pulled me in and along for the ride quickly. Blew through books 1 & 2 and now must wait for #3 to become available. If you are a fan of Post Apocalyptic, Near Future, NO Zombies genre, you'll dig this series.

Good storyline

Overall I enjoyed it. Characters were engaging. I felt there was a lot more room to expand the story and the character development. The author’s grasp of the military lacking. Having finished a military career, there were parts that were like nails on a chalkboard. Still, I will follow the series, as it is entertaining

Enjoyed the start of a new series

I enjoyed this book as I did Nicholas Sansbury Smith's Hell Diver series. I believe it is accurate into a look of how quickly society could fall apart. I normally don't go looking for End of the world or Dooms Day stories, but it is easy to get caught up into this book. I think Ray Porter was a good choice and did an excellent job reading the story. I already pre-ordered book two and look forward to listening to it

Another hit from Nicholas Sansbury Smith

I wasn't sure I was going to like this book as it is outside of the norm of what I have come to expect from Nicholas Sansbury Smith. Well, I loved this book!

The characters are amazing and the story progresses in an engaging way that is clearly setting things up for book 2.

Book is just ok

Ends like a soap opera setting you up to buy the next book in a never ending series. seems to be a common theme among authors these days. Problem is they usually go downhill quickly. For that reason I wont be buying the next book.

I really like Nicholas' books and remember going through the He'll diver series in something like a week. It looks like I might do this here as well 😁
